The Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Light Up The Night Hillsborough Holiday Parade, Community Sing and Tree Lighting will be Sunday, December 2nd this year starting around 4:15 p.m.
There are many exciting activities planned for this year before, during and after the parade to help you and your family celebrate the season. Pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for a suggested donation of $5 at the Visitors Center in the Alexander Dickson House at 150 East King Street from 1 to 3 p.m. on December 2nd, and also 1 to 3 p.m. on December 9th.
One of the newest additions to parade day this year is the Running of the Elves. The Hillsborough Running Club and local school running clubs will lead off the parade, in all their Elfishness, around 4 p.m. on December 2nd with a chip-timed, 1-mile downhill race on Churton Street through the center of Historic Hillsborough. Online registration is now open!
The parade, presented by The Town of Hillsborough, then will commence down Churton Street around 4:15 p.m. The parade route this year will travel south on Churton Street, to Margaret Lane, then north on Cameron.
We are excited that ABC11 Eyewitness News Tisha Powell has agreed to be our Grand Marshall for the Parade this year! Tisha co-anchors ABC11 Eyewitness News every weeknight at 5, 6 and 11 p.m. with Steve Daniels. You can also find the team at 10 p.m. on CW22. Tisha is also a Hillsborough resident and HUGE community supporter.
This year’s parade will feature local bands, fire engines and other first-responder vehicles, local personalities, festive floats, mascots and cheerleaders, as well as Santa and Mrs. Claus! Portable restrooms will be available on the lawn of the Old County Courthouse.
Immediately following the parade, come join the Community Sing and Tree Lighting at the Old Courthouse Square. Local food trucks will be set up around the Old Courthouse Square starting at 3 p.m. parade day and will stay until after the Community Sing and Tree Lighting. There are also several Downtown shops open and ready for your holiday shopping needs, and several restaurants in Downtown will be open for a yummy end to your day in Hillsborough.
The Light Up The Night Hillsborough Holiday Parade, Community Sing and Tree Lighting are sponsored by the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Hillsborough Tourism Development Authority.
