Other Lantern Walks in the Triangle
This lantern parade is one of three community lantern parades in the Triangle this winter. The longstanding Solstice Lantern Walk takes place in Hillsborough on the evening of Solstice, December 20, 2025, and the Winter Solstice Lantern Walk at the N.C. Museum of Art, takes place on December 13, 2025.
All of these walks are participatory events. Members of the community walk together, carrying homemade lanterns, to mark the longest night of the year. The lanterns are lit with LED or string lights (not flames) and are generally white.
