Ligon Jazz Combos will perform at Transfer Co Food Hall. These performances are a part of a series to support our Chicago Trip and Midwest Performance in Chicago in December.
The Ligon Jazz Ensemble, a group of seventh and eighth graders from Ligon GT Magnet Middle School in southeast Raleigh, has been selected, by audition, to perform at the 73rd Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. In the 73 years of the clinic, the Ligon Jazz Ensemble (LJE) is only the 4th North Carolina Band to receive this distinction and one of only two middle school bands in the country to be invited this year.
All funds raised for the Ligon Jazz Ensemble through this campaign will support the education, performances, and activities of the Ligon Jazz Ensemble as it prepares and travels to the Midwest Clinic. We want to ensure that all band members receive the support they need to prepare for the trip and that they are then all able to travel to Chicago to perform and make the most of their time in Chicago. Your support will help fund necessary expenses to allow us to continue to build and grow the band.

6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Have you been hearing about things like “GenX,” “PFAS,” and other weird chemicals showing up in our drinking water? Do you wonder how they got there and what it might mean for our health?
Dr. Scott Belcher and Dr. Detlef Knappe, two experts from NC State who can answer all (or at least a lot!) of your questions about drinking water in NC, will be on hand.
Never been to beer-reviewed science before? It’s kind of like a science cafe, but a lot more casual and relaxed. No graphs or powerpoints, just all kinds of experts ready to sit down, answer questions, and a drink a beer or two. Plus, Transfer Co. has tons of great food and drink options to enjoy while you learn.
