Switch Theatre is presenting Shakespeare in the Parks: OTHELLO — free professional productions around the Triangle in May and June of 2025.
The “green-ey’d monster” rears its ugly head in this spring’s free-to-the-public, outdoor performance of Shakespeare in the Parks: OTHELLO. This professional production’s six-week tour of the Triangle stops in Durham, Raleigh, Cary, Knightdale, Apex, and Tarboro. General admission is free. VIP seating options are available. Online reservations are recommended.
A classic tale of jealousy, power and prejudice, the play tells the story of Noble Moorish general Othello who is secretly married to his beloved Desdemona. Othello chooses Cassio for a promotion rather than his trusted but duplicitous ensign Iago. Enraged, Iago weaves a complex scheme that spirals into a frenzy of suspicion which leads to tragic violence and irreversible loss.
A perfect afternoon of culture and entertainment–this gripping 90-minute production preserves the classic language and core story of the full play.
Production is rated PG for adult themes and violence.
