The Durham Area Pickleball Players organization offers a FREE clinic on Saturdays. Intro to Pickleball takes place on Saturdays, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Piney Woods Courts, 400 East Woodcroft Parkway, Durham.
Please email Mesa Somer at mesasomer33@gmail.com if you plan to attend.
The courts are a little hard to see. They’re behind the soccer fields.
In this clinic you’ll learn about scoring, serving, and basic shots, and get to play a few games.
Please wear comfortable clothes, a hat, and tennis shoes. Make sure to bring water. Loaner paddles will be provided.
Beginner play will follow the clinic, and will also continue on Sundays at 4:30 p.m.
You can see Durham Area Pickleball Players’ whole calendar here. The free clinics are on the schedule every Saturday until August 27th, 2022.
Pickleball is a fast-growing sport nationwide. It’s similar to tennis, but with a few differences. The game is played with a whiffle ball and hard paddle. A pickleball ball typically moves at one-third of the average speed of a tennis ball and the court is just under one-third of the total area of a tennis court.
