The Krispy Kreme Challenge was started by NC State students with a passion for running and for doughnuts. The race puts your stomach, not just your legs, to the test. As they say, it is a “unique challenge of both athletic and gastrointestinal skill.”
The Krispy Kreme Challenge requires participants to run 2.5 miles, starting at the Memorial Belltower on the NC State campus, at 2011 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, to the Krispy Kreme at the intersection of Peace and Person Streets.
They must eat a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts at the Krispy Kreme and then somehow run back to the Memorial Belltower.
Participants must complete the race in under an hour to be eligible for winning.
The annual race is an important fundraiser for UNC Children’s Hospital. Please consider donating!
The Krispy Kreme Challenge takes place February 3, 2024, at 8 a.m.
Register for the Krispy Kreme Challenge.
If your legs or stomach aren’t up for the challenge, just remember: it’s free to watch! And there is also an option for more casual runners who don’t wish to eat the doughnuts, and who’d like to run at their own pace.
There are three categories
Challenger: You will be eligible to claim victory. You must consume all 12 doughnuts and complete the race in under an hour.
Casual: You’ll get the doughnuts but don’t have to consume them all. You aren’t eligible to win.
No Doughnut: You want to run, but don’t want to eat doughnuts.
Registration cost is $45 for any category.
