Snerd, at White Deer Park in Garner, is the Triangle’s only official Groundhog Day groundhog.
The pressure’s on, Snerd!
On Monday, February 2, 2026, White Deer Park, 2400 Aversboro Road, Garner, North Carolina, is hosting a Groundhog Day celebration from 10 a.m to 12:15 p.m.
The highlight will be when Snerd delivers her prediction to Garner Mayor Buddy Gupton at 12 p.m. If she sees her shadow, then lore has it that there will be six more weeks of winter. If she doesn’t see her shadow, spring weather is right around the corner.
The free event also features live animals, educational booths, a storytime, Smokey Bear and much more.
