September, 2022, is Fit Cary Month, and the Town of Cary is celebrating with a number of free fitness classes.

Here is some of what will be available. Please make sure that you register in advance for activities that require registration (which is most, or all, of them.) To register, go to the Fit Cary page and click on the link for the class you’d like to attend.

PRESCHOOL FITNESS (age 3-5)
Tuesday and Thursday | Sep 6-29 | 9-9:45 a.m. | Bond Park Community Center
A creative combo of playtime and exercise! This class combines games and physical activity to keep kids engaged while exercising. Kids will be able to play games with teams encouraging physical activity and social interaction all while having a blast! Balloon volleyball, freeze dance, twister and more are just a few examples of the types of games kids can play together, to have fun and get some activity in.
KICKBOXING (age 16 & up)
Monday and Wednesday | Sep 7-28 | 10:30-11:30 a.m. | Middle Creek Community Center
A creative and fun way to combine cardio and self-defense! Kickboxing is a great option for adults looking to build some strength as well as learn some awesome boxing moves. The class runs in circuits involving cardio, technique training, and practicing kickboxing moves, giving you a well-rounded workout while learning some basic self-defense poses.
DANCEIT (age 16 & up)

Tuesday and Thursday | Sep 9-13| 4-5 p.m. | Bond Park Community Center
Strengthen your body and mind with this well-balanced whole-body workout. The up-beat inspirational music carries you through movements designed to release everyday stresses and get you fit! For dancers and non-dancers alike.
SLOW FLOW VINYASA YOGA (age 18 & up)
Monday | Sep 12-26 | 6-7 p.m. | Herb Young Community Center

This vinyasa flow class focuses on connecting movements to the breath. You’ll be guided slowly and mindfully through a series of poses in a relaxed atmosphere.
CARDIO-CORE-STRENGTH FITNESS (age 18 & up)
Tuesday & Thursday | Aug 30-Sep 29 | 9-10 a.m. | Middle Creek Community Center
In this class, we will focus on toning, strengthening, balance, cardio, abdominal, and core work. We will use a variety of different exercise equipment during the six-week session. Each class can be done at low, moderate, or high-impact levels.
CARDIO FIT (age 18 & up)

This energetic low-impact class combines a moderate to high intensity workout with advanced choreography to enhance overall fitness.
PILATES CORE (age 18 & up)
Tuesday | Sep 6-27 | 11-11:45 a.m. | Middle Creek Community Center
This mat-based workout focuses on core strength, stability, posture, breath control, and flexibility. No prior experience necessary. Slow controlled movements for a full body workout.
ZUMBA®(age 18 & up)
Tuesday | Sep 6-26 | 6:30-7:30 p.m. | Bond Park Community Center
Get fit while you dance! Zumba® is a Latin-inspired, dance fitness class incorporating Latin and International music and movement. The cardio-based dance moves are easy-to-follow and designed to target legs, arms, core abdominal, and the most important muscle in the body — the heart!
CHAIR YOGA (age 18 & up)
Wednesday | Sep 7-28 | 10-11 a.m. | Middle Creek Community Center
Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga performed while seated, integrating breathing techniques and meditation. There will be an emphasis on ease of movement and repetition. Props may be used (resistance bands, very light weights). This class is suitable for all skill levels.
ZUMBA TONING® (age 18 & up)
Thursday | Sep 8-29 | 6:30-7:30 p.m.| Bond Park Community Center
Zumba Toning® combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and a high energy cardio work out infused with dance moves to create a calorie torching, strength training dance fitness party.
LEARN TO MEDITATE (age 18 & up)
Saturday | Sep 10-24 | 10:30-11:15 a.m. | Middle Creek Community Center
Have you tried to meditate and think you failed because you still had thoughts? Join me to learn how to divert your thoughts with your own breath and mantras. You will also learn different types of meditations to help ground and center yourself. Sturdy pillow suggested.
SENIORS IN MOTION (age 55 & up)

Join us for one of our most popular senior fitness classes! Exercise to the tunes you enjoy, with friends old and new! Improve your cardiovascular, strength and flexibility with this workout.
SeniorFit (age 55 & up)
Tuesday & Thursday | Sep 6-29 | 1:30-2:15 p.m. | Middle Creek Community Center
A 45 minute workout designed for older adults that combines cardiovascular endurance, strength exercises, range of motion, balance, core strength, and flexibility. This is a great, all-in-one class set to music that is fun and effective!
STRETCH & STRENGTH (age 55 & up)
Wednesday | Sep 14-Nov 2 | 1-1:50 p.m. | Cary Senior Center
Friday | Sep 9-Oct 28 | 1-1:50 p.m. | Cary Senior Center
Stay active! This class offers a gentle approach to building flexibility, strength, and balance. We incorporate a combination of weight bearing exercises, stretching, and strength exercises with dumbbells. Some exercises may require floor work.
Free Drop-In Sports
Have you heard of pickleball and wanted to give it a try or maybe you are a seasoned badminton or volleyball player looking for gym space to play. Drop-in sports activities at the community centers will be FREE the entire month of September! Find the Open Gym Schedule here.
