The Groundbreaking Ceremony for Downtown Cary Park, the seven-acre park that will be the central gathering spot for the Town of Cary, is taking place on Saturday, June 26th, at 11 a.m.
All are welcome to attend the groundbreaking, at 327 S. Academy Street.
After the groundbreaking ceremony, stick around in Downtown Cary, where several businesses will be offering discounts celebrating in other ways:
- Di Fara Pizza – $2 off all pies; $1 off signature cocktails; $3.50 domestic bottles
- La Farm Bakery – special edition cookie and bread designs
- Bond Brothers Beer Company – invites you to come raise a glass in celebration

The park is expected to open in 2023, and will feature:

Wednesday, June 23: Sidewalk Birdie Buddies

Let’s celebrate our newest birdie friends who’ll soon be taking up residence in the Downtown Cary Park! Join us at the Downtown Park fountain, get your free colorful Birdie chalk kit and create your best birdies along Academy Street! What kinds of birds and friends will you create with chalk? We can’t wait to see!
Thursday, June 24: Paws in the Park

Calling all canine fur baby families! This free event is a pooch-tacular happening in celebration of the Downtown Park Groundbreaking! Bring your fur baby for paw print casting. Staff will be on hand during the event to help you choose your color and shape, press your dog’s paw into the Crayola Model Magic, and string it on a ribbon for a one-of-a-kind keepsake. All participants will receive a goodie bag of treats any dog would love!
Friday, June 25: Lunch & Listen with Peter Lamb & Mark Wells, of Peter Lamb & the Wolves
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Old Library Site | No Registration Required
For over a decade, Peter Lamb and the Wolves have been playing music together throughout various cities in North Carolina, and surrounding states. The music they play is an eclectic variety of both originals and arrangements ranging from 1920s New Orleans Jazz to 1980s pop to Eastern European Brass Band. We’ll be treated to a duo consisting of band leader Peter Lamb on saxophone, and Mark Wells on keyboard and vocals. Grab lunch at your favorite Downtown eatery and enjoy some free music under the trees.
