Celebrate the beginning of the holiday season in Downtown Durham on December 2, 2023, at the Downtown Durham Tree Lighting.
It will take place at CCB Plaza, 201 Corcoran Street, Durham, North Carolina, from 5 to 9 pm.
Enjoy music and performances from local talent, a night market with Triangle Pop-Up, and more.
- 5-9 p.m. – Holiday Market presented by Triangle Pop-Up
- 5-5:30 p.m. – Performance: Empower Dance
- 5:30-6 p.m – Music: Choral Society of Durham
- 6-6:30 p.m. – Performance: Takiri Folclor Latino
- 6:30-7 p.m. – Drumroll: Batalá Durham
- 7 p.m. – Tree Lighting (Mayor Elaine O’Neal will do the honors, with a poem by Durham Poet Laureate DJ Rogers)
- 7:05-8 p.m. – Music: Fruits of Our Labor
- 8-9 p.m. – Music: Duck
Special Guest: Strolling Santa!
Urban Ministries of Durham will also be hosting a food drive during the event. Donations of shelf-stable, non-perishable items will be accepted.

The Bullpen is Open — Social District
A social district is a defined area in which a person may consume an alcoholic beverage that’s sold by a business within the social district. In other words, you can walk outside and between establishments while enjoying a drink.
Downtown Durham’s social district, called “The Bullpen” is fairly large, going all the way from Brightleaf to Golden Belt. You can see the map here.
