Wendell General Store, at 28 N. Main Street, Wendell, started as a seasonal candy store in 2014. Now it’s a permanent store, carrying candy, both current and nostalgic, jams and jellies, pickles, ice cream, local honey, vintage toys, products from local crafters and more.
On Saturday, January 30th, 2021, Wendell General Store is holding its first Quarterly Checkers Championship.
To participate, sign up at the store. The first 8 people in each age category will be eligible to participate. Sign up by January 29th, 2021.
This is a bracket-style competition for ages 5 and up. Rules and registration are at the store.
Each round will be for 20 minutes. The player with the most wins or most kings at the end of 20 minutes moves on in the bracket.
The player who wins the final bracket will take home the grand prize of free ice cream for a year! (One ice cream cone a week for a year.)
Start times on January 30th:
- Age 5-10: Arrive at 10:30 a.m.
- Age 11-17: Arrive at 12:30 p.m.
- Age 18+: Arrive at 2:30 p.m.
