There is plenty going on in in the Triangle for New Year’s Eve, including First Night Raleigh, which features live music, fireworks, and the famous Acorn Drop. In addition, there are a ton of low-priced New Year’s Eve celebrations in the Triangle.
But if you’d rather greet 2024 from the comfort of your couch, wearing your pajamas and fuzzy slippers, there’s nothing wrong with that either! (Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.)
The New Year’s Eve ball drop at Times Square in New York city is the biggest, most iconic event, and there are several ways to watch. You can even watch it right here! (Scroll down.)

How to watch the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop Without Cable?
You don’t need cable (or even a TV) to watch the ball drop. A free live webcast will begin at 6 p.m. at timessquarenyc.org/times-square-new-years-eve/nye-live-webcast
If you find you are often wanting to watch network TV and you’re a cord-cutter, the least expensive option, by far, is a digital antenna, like this one. We like it for watching sports, but it can come in handy for events like the NYE Ball Drop as well.
Or watch right here, below!
Other New Year’s Eve Shows
Alternatively, you can watch the ball drop on New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. Watch on CNN. They’ll be broadcasting live from Times Square starting at 8 p.m. At 12:30 a.m. they’ll hand the mic to Don Lemon and Alisyn Camerota, who will be live in New Orleans for the Central Time Zone countdown.
Another option is New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash, hosted by Elle King and Rachel Smith. This five-hour long celebration starts at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS. Or you can stream it on Paramount+ if you are a Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscriber.
