The Vocal Arts Ensemble of Durham is presenting their annual Christmas concert, O Holy Night: Darkness Into Light, on Sunday, December 13, 2025, at 4 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 215 N Church Street, Durham, North Carolina.
Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
This holiday season, the 36 voices of the Vocal Arts Ensemble invite you to a winter concert that reflects the themes so many of us return to this time of year—hope, renewal, and the comfort of light emerging in the midst of darkness. O Holy Night: Darkness into Light brings together choral music old and new, offering a rich blend of familiar seasonal sounds and stunning contemporary works.
The program includes audience favorites such as Biebl’s Ave Maria and Pärt’s luminous Magnificat, alongside vivid modern pieces that explore winter’s quiet beauty and the promise of a brighter world. From the serene elegance of Palestrina’s Hodie Christus natus est to the energetic lift of Jonathan Dove’s Ring Out, Wild Bells, the concert offers music that inspires, surprises, and uplifts.
