
Celebrate Japanese culture at the Tanabata Festival on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Carolina Pines Community Center, 2305 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh, North Carolina.
The event is free and open to the public, with a $10 suggested donation per adult.
The festival features:
- Sumo wrestling
- Origami
- Japanese songs and dancing
- Make a wish on a Tanzaku (narrow strips of colored paper) and tie them to a bamboo tree
- Mahjong
- Ukiyo-e (traditional Japanese art)
- Taiko (Japanese drumming)
- Workshops and performances
- Takoyaki snacks
