Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge, at 7236 NC Highway 87 N, in Pittsboro, is a non-profit organization that works to protect animals from factory farms.
The Refuge is a sanctuary that cares for rescued chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, goats, pigs and cows who come from lives of abuse, neglect and abandonment.
These animals find peace and protection on 16 acres of pasture and woods, where they will be provided with top notch, life-long care.
Sometimes Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge offers visits to the refuge and hosts events. We’re listing some upcoming events below. Please follow each link for more information. Some events are held off-site.
Fall Vegan Potluck

These potlucks are a fantastic opportunity for both seasoned vegans and those curious about veganism to connect, enjoy great conversations, and savor delicious food. There will be board games on hand, but feel free to bring any favorites from home to share!
Please bring your own plates, forks, bowls, etc. from home so we can be environmentally-friendly and avoid using disposables.
Please also bring a note card with the list of ingredients of your dish(es) to help with those folks who may have certain food allergies.
Day with the Turkeys Tour & Explore

“Day with the Turkeys” Tour & Explore event will include fun turkey-themed activities, such as giving the turkeys special treats, turkey trivia, reading to our turkey residents, coloring pages, and more.
In addition, you will get to meet 100+ farm animal residents and learn their rescue stories while touring our sanctuary grounds at your own pace! Along the way, you will get to meet cows, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, and, of course, turkeys.
Knowledgeable Tour Guides will be stationed throughout the Refuge to tell enchanting stories of animal rescues, introducing you to each animal by name.
While visiting, don’t miss the serene curved brick animal memorial, unique architectural designs, and our beautiful Pavilion, where you can find Refuge merchandise for purchase and learn more about our mission. Finally, round out your visit by treating yourself to some delicious vegan food from 2 different food truck vendors!
You are welcome to arrive any time after 11 a.m. and tour at your own pace, but please note that the Refuge will close to visitors promptly at 2 p.m.
