Paws & Rec is the Town of Apex Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department’s new canine recreation series offering fun, seasonal events for dogs and their humans throughout the year.
Whether you’re looking to meet fellow dog lovers, enjoy unique activities with your pup, or simply spend more time outdoors together, Paws & Rec has something for every pack.
Paws and Rec features community walks, holiday celebrations, social gatherings and special themed events.

Community Walk begins at 7 pm
Apex Community Park Shelter, 2200 Laura Duncan Rd.
Free, No registration required!
Join the kickoff event and celebrate the launch of this new program with your four-legged friends. Enjoy an evening filled with dog-friendly activities, treats, music, local partners, and opportunities to meet other pet lovers in the Apex community.
After the event, participants and their pups are invited to join us for a community walk through Apex Community Park. This is a great opportunity to socialize, enjoy the outdoors, and meet members of the Apex pet community.
Event activities include:
- Pup Cup Bar – Create a custom frozen treat for your pup with fun toppings
- “Ask the Vet” Booth
- Light refreshments for our human friends
- Community walk at the end of the event
- Vendors, Music, Community Connections & More!
Canine Participation Requirements
To help keep all participants safe, dogs attending Paws & Rec events must:
- Be current on required vaccinations, including rabies.
- Remain on a non-retractable leash no longer than six feet.
- Be under the owner’s control at all times.
- Have no known history of aggressive or dangerous behavior.
- All participants bringing dogs must agree to the Town of Apex Canine Recreation Event Waiver, Release of Liability, and Assumption of Risk prior to participation.
