Durham Gathers to Remember: 25th Anniversary of 9/11
Choral Society of Durham is the city’s largest chorus, with 160 singers. The Durham Symphony Orchestra is the city’s largest orchestra, and the Durham Armory, 212 Foster Street, Durham North Carolina, is a landmark building in downtown Durham.
Together, these three quintessentially Durham organizations will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11 by performing Mozart’s Requiem on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. This is a free event.
This piece was performed shortly after the Twin Towers were attacked in 2001. It is a recognizable piece, associated with grief and redemption. The project emphasizes the civic and community nature of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, with a local emphasis: Durham gathers to remember.
