Paperhand Puppet Intervention is gearing up for their summer show, The Gift, which will premiere on August 8, 2025, and will be presented every weekend through September 28 at Forest Theatre in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The puppet troupe is acclaimed and loved not just for their annual summer show, but for their participation in parades and festivals and their work in the community.
Community Work Days

Do you want to play a part in creating the show? Or learn about puppet making? Paperhand Puppet Intervention holds Community Work Days every Saturday from May 17 until July, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at their studio at 6079 Saxapahaw-Swepsonville Road, Saxapahaw, North Carolina.
The studio is 16 miles west of Chapel Hill and 31 miles west of Durham.
Drop in for as much, or as little, time as you’d like and learn the skills and techniques needed to create giant puppets. It’s free to take part and you don’t need to sign up. You’ll be developing skills while helping to create the summer show!
This may count as volunteer credit for high school students.
Please know that there are fans in the studio, but no air conditioning, and there are hot and sharp tools there.
Look for updates on Paperhand Puppet Intervention’s Facebook page.
