All month is Pecan Pickin' Month at Historic Oak View County Park. You can fill up a small bag with pecans that have fallen on the ground. While supplies last! Drive through Piedmont Wildlife Center November 1 and meet owls, hawks and other birds of prey. It's free, but donations are appreciated. The 32nd Annual Sculpture in the Garden Show at North Carolina Botanical Garden, on UNC's campus, takes place until December 6.. It's free, but a donation is appreciated. November may be past peak color season in the mountains, but we also list scenic drives closer to home. Veterans Day is November 11 and many businesses offer freebies or deals to veterans and active duty military members. Not all the deals are on November 11 though, so make sure to check.
