
The Nippon Club of the Triangle is presenting the 2026 New Year Mochitsuki Festival on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Five Points Center for Active Adults, 2000 Noble Road, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Admission is free, but a $10 donation per adult is suggested.
Mochitsuki is a Japanese New Year tradition of pounding glutinous rice into Mochi, a sweet rice cake.
Lunar New Year is February 17, 2026. There will be many celebrations throughout the Triangle, starting in late January. Check back soon for more!

The event features:
- Annual membership meeting
- Mochi pounding demonstration
- Mochi tasting with various toppings
- Japanese Chorus Club
- Chanoyu Tea Ceremony
- Triangle Taiki performance
- Sumo and Jiu-Jitsu demonstrations
The Nippon Club is a nonprofit organization that fosters, celebrates and shares Japanese culture with the Triangle community.
