The North Carolina Public Defender’s Association and the NCCU School of Law Social Justice and Racial Equity Institute are planning an event to commemorate Juneteenth.
Honoring Juneteenth In Our Courts takes place Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 1 to 4 p.m., at NCCU New Student Center, 500 Nelson Street, Durham, NC.
The event is free and open to all.
In honor of the Juneteenth holiday, The NC Association of Public Defenders (NCAPD) and the NCCU School of Law Social Justice and Racial Equity Institute (SJREI) will offer an educational event commemorating the emancipation of enslaved Americans, whose descendants are disproportionately represented in our criminal justice system.
The NCAPD and NCCU School of Law SJREI help defend the accused, fight to protect families, and keep North Carolina’s promise to uphold the Constitution each day in courtrooms across the state.
The event is free to attend and donations will be accepted to offset the cost of the event.
