Leela Theatre, at 309 N Boylan Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina, is a hub for improv in the Triangle. It offers shows, improv classes, corporate events and more.
Once a month, Leela opens its doors to the community for a FREE Improv Jam. This program is for ages 18+.
Although these events are free, registration is required and space is limited.
The Open Jams take place the first Friday of the month, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Whether you’re a seasoned performer or a curious first-timer, this is the perfect place to jump in, have fun, and discover the joy of improv. Hosted by our skilled and experienced Leela faculty, our intention is to foster a welcoming space where improv artists of all experience levels can take risks and build community.
Whether you want to step out of your comfort zone, meet new people, or just laugh your heart out, our Improv Community Jam has something for everyone. So grab your friends, bring your Yes And! attitude, and come join the FUN! Let’s play!
What to Expect
- Potluck – arrive at 7 pm with a dish to share.
- Improv Jam – Jump on stage and play improv games with new friends. No experience necessary—everyone is welcome.
- Open Mic – Share a song, poem, stand-up bit, or any short performance piece in a supportive, welcoming space.
- Dry Event – This is a dry improv jam—a fun, creative night without alcohol. Let’s let improv be the mind-altering substance to help us let loose and have fun. The group will celebrate with optional drinks after the jam at a local Glenwood South bar.
