The Howell Theatre, at 141 S 3rd Street, Smithfield, has been in operation since 1935. It’s one of the oldest continually operating movie theaters in North Carolina.
They’ve spend the closure time making renovations on the lobby, restrooms, kitchenette and balconies.
The Howell Theatre is celebrating its grand re-opening on October 31st, 2020, at 11 a.m.
Two features will be playing in the background, one from 1935 and one from 1949.
Check out the renovations and the films, and get a FREE box of popcorn. They’ll also be giving out FREE random movie posters, while they last.
And, of course, you’re welcome to come back to a regular showing at the theatre as well, starting at 3 p.m.
On Saturday, October 31st, the films include:
- Nightmare Before Christmas
- Come Play
- The War with Grandpa
- Honest Thief
- Halloween (1978)
Tickets are $8.50 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under and seniors 60+.
