The Friends of the City of Raleigh (COR) Museum presents a series of special events commemorating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop Music on August 12, 2023.
Presented in cooperation with the City of Raleigh, the celebration features both day and night activities that explore Raleigh’s connection to the genre that has made a global cultural impact since 1973.

One of the events, is free: The Hip Hop Block Party on Fayetteville Street, Raleigh, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., will be a free, family-friendly event.
The block party will feature:

- Hip hop dance performances
- DJs
- Vendors
- Food trucks
- Jumbotron TV
- Educational programming
- More
The City of Raleigh Museum will feature a roundtable discussion with early Hip Hop pioneers who brought the music to the Triangle.
