The Contentnea Fire Department, at 4146 NC Highway 42 W, Wilson, North Carolina, presents one of the most impressive Christmas light displays every year, and it’s free to visit! it boasts a 60-foot tall tree and over 25,000 lights.

2026 Schedule
- Santa Preview Nights / Soft Opening: November 20 & 21
- Regular Season Begins: Black Friday, November 7
- Special Needs Nights: December 1 & 8 (pre-registration required)
- Worship Nights: December 7 & 9
- Santa’s Last Night: December 23
- Lights Only: December 24 & 25
- Lights Continue: December 26 through New Year’s Eve
The lights go on at 5:30 p.m. and run until 9 p.m.
Santa at Contentnea Fire Department
In addition, Santa will be there almost every night. Check back for the price for pictures with Santa. In 2025 they were $6. Santa’s schedule (subject to change) is in the calendar above.
If the process is the same as last year, when you arrive, go to Santa registration. They’ll take your phone number and you’ll enter a virtual queue. You’ll receive a text when it’s time to see Santa. You’ll be able to check your place in line at any time.
December 1 and 8, 2026, will be Special Needs Nights. Please message the fire department to register.
Popcorn, hot chocolate, pizza, cotton candy, and more will be available.
