Looking for a place to watch the FIFA World Cup in Raleigh, Durham and elsewhere in the Triangle? Here’s a list (although we’ll certainly be adding more to it!)
The FIFA Men’s World Cup is taking place in November and December of 2022. It starts on Sunday, November 20th, with the final match taking place December 18th, 2022.
In all, 32 teams will compete in a total of 64 games in Qatar. This is the first time that a country in the Middle East is hosting the World Cup. You can see the team groupings and schedule here.
The World Cup takes place once every four years. The winner in 2018 was France.
We are keeping rounding up a list of World Cup Watch Parties in the Triangle. We’ll be updating this list whenever we hear about a new one. There will probably be many more announced.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place in 2023.
How to Watch the FIFA World Cup at Home without Cable
Every game of the 2022 World Cup will be broadcast on Fox.
If you don’t have cable, you can watch Fox with an inexpensive antenna. We got an antenna similar to this one to watch baseball on Fox and it worked fine. This is an inexpensive, one-time purchase.
Alternately, if you watch a lot of sports you might want to get Fubo. It offers well over 200 channels. It costs $69.99 a month. There’s a 7-day free trial. Try Fubo now.
If you can’t watch the games live, or want to watch replays, Tubi has all 64 full match replays available for free. Create a free Tubi account and you’ll have access to all of the World Cup matches, highlights and news.
Soccer FanFest
Don’t miss Raleigh’s Soccer FanFest on Sunday, December 18th, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. They’ll be showing the final match at 10 a.m., but will also have tons of soccer fun, including Carnival of Cultures (celebrate soccer’s influence across the globe), Knockerball, Giant Soccer, soccer skills clinic, arts and craft, beer garden, food trucks, and more. Free event for all ages.
