Learning Lunch: Women in Politics

Bring your lunch and join us for an engaging conversation with local politicians! The speakers (Apex Councilmember Audra Killingsworth, Wake County Commissioner Cheryl Stallings, and North Carolina State Representative Julie Von Haefen) discuss their backgrounds, why they ran for office, and what comes next!
Themed-snacks are a bonus for this free event!
GameMakers Showcase for Middle and High School Gamers

6th through 12th grade students are invited to submit video game concepts and developed games as part of the GameMakers Showcase! Students receive feedback from a panel of gaming industry experts and could win fun prizes. RSVP here.
Panelists include:
- Heather Chandler: former Senior Producer on Fortnite, owner of Whole Brain Escape in Apex
- Janie Hughes: Co-Founder of BingoBard, Women in Games Ambassador & Chair of IGDA NC Triangle
- Meg Hughes: Video Game Producer at Thought Pennies
- Amber M Johnson: Associate Professor Simulation and Game Development at Wake Tech Community College
- Jayden Sansom: Computer Science Graduate (NCSU), AmeriCorps College Advisor, Future Tools Programmer
How to Enter:
Middle School Students: Submit your video game concept to pitch at the Showcase! Complete an online pitch application where you tell our panelists about your game idea and provide any supporting art and designs. The panelists will select the top pitches to present at the GameMakers Showcase.
High School Students: Submit your developed video game to premiere at the Showcase! Complete an online showcase application to show off your developed games. Top games will be selected to demo at the Showcase and will be given tips and feedback on their games components from the experts.
What you can win:
- 1st Place Game Pitch and Showcase Contestant win BEATS Headphones
- Other prizes include Steam Giftcards, Funkopops, and Tickets to Whole Brain Escape
