Bees and Beekeeping

Have you wondered where honey comes from? Learn from experienced local beekeepers how beekeeping really works. See what is needed to set up an Apiary and learn how working honeybees are cared for. Get up-close with the equipment used for backyard beekeeping. Note — no live bees will be present for this educational program.

Leprechauns have been sighted in Wilkerson’s Woodland Village, but they need a place to stay! Can you help us build leprechaun houses for them? Using natural materials such as sticks and rocks, the leprechauns will feel very lucky to be among the fairies and trolls in Wilkerson’s Woodland Village! All materials will be provided. Drop in any time between 10am and noon to help out! Parents must accompany their children.

Why do we have seasons? Why do we say days are ‘getting shorter’ or ‘longer’? How do animals know when to migrate, and flowers know when to grow? In this investigation, we’ll use simulations and construct models to understand how the source of the seasons is literally ‘out of this world.’
