WAKE Up and Read is a community coalition made up of 30+ organizations working together toward one common goal — improving childhood literacy in Wake County.
One of the ways that WAKE Up and Read encourages childhood literacy is through their Grab, Go & Read book giveaways.
This program is for families with children from birth to 5th grade.
Simply drive up to the WAKE Up and Read Center, 1820 Capital Boulevard, Raleigh, and receive a free bag of children’s books!
Come as many time as you’d like — the books are always changing. They will gladly accept any books you’d like to return.
The program is on hold for the new year, and they’re gearing up for future book giveaways with a book drive!
WAKE Up and Read is hosting a virtual kick-off for the book drive on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on WAKE Up and Read’s Facebook page.
This fun event celebrating literacy will feature read alouds, performances, and guest appearances. Mascot, Ruben the Rooster, along with his friends will be visiting community partners to talk with them about the importance of reading!
