Town of Wake Forest Inspections Department is hosting the Building, Electrical, and Deck Safety Month Kick-Off on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Town and Country Hardware, 910 Gateway Commons Circle, Wake Forest, North Carolina.
At this free event, residents can come out and learn about the services the department offers, including Online Plan Review, and can talk one-on-one with Town inspectors about building safety, codes and inspections as they pertain to common residential projects, such as decks, kitchen and bath remodels, and screened porches.
There will also be free hot dogs!
A special part of the kick-off is the Popsicle Stick House Building Contest for kids.
Kids ages 7 and under, 8-9, and 10-11 are invited to build a house using popsicle sticks. Design of the house, including painting and decorations, is left up to each contestant. Entries will be judged on creativity, imagination, quality, and workmanship.
There is no cost to participate, but registration is required at https://bit.ly/WFBuildingSafetyMonth. The deadline to register is Monday, April 21, 2025.
Each contestant must deliver his or her completed popsicle house to the April 26 Building Safety Month Kick-Off between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Inspections staff will begin the judging at 2 p.m. and announce the winners at 3 p.m.
One winner will be selected from each age category, along with one overall grand prize winner. The winner in each age bracket will receive $100, while the grand prize winner will receive $200.
