
Uproar Festival of Public Art is coming to Orange County, North Carolina, from August 1 to 23, 2025.
Sixty bold, high-impact, outdoor works of art will be showcased throughout the downtown communities of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough, and cash prizes will be awarded based on public voting and a jury panel of experts.
Be sure to vote to help select the $10,000 People’s Choice Winner! Uproar artists represent six states – North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama.
Think of Uproar as a big, artsy scavenger hunt. Uproar will provide a free and accessible arts experience for visitors of all abilities. You an see all the art here.
Trolleys
The Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Center provides FREE trolley transportation in Chapel Hill and Carrboro to view the UPROAR art installations. This is a hop-on/hop-off trolley designed to transport you to different areas of the two towns.
Two air-conditioned trolleys will run on a continuous loop through downtown Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Riders can get on and off at any stop throughout the day. No tickets or registration are required.
There will be free maps and brochures on board to help guide your visit.
Unfortunately, the trolleys are not wheelchair accessible.
The trollies run from 12 to 8 p.m. on these Saturdays:
- Saturday, August 2
- Saturday, August 9
- Saturday, August 16

You’re invited to a free kickoff party at Eno River Brewing, 329 Eno Mountain Road, Hillsborough, North Carolina, on August 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. Please note the change of venue from Eno Arts Mill.
