Triangle Land Conservancy, an organization that works to safeguard clean water and natural habitats, leads groups in guided hikes and outdoor programs in nature preserves in the Triangle.

Evening Hike at Horton Grove Nature Preserve

Join TLC Trail Guides on a wonderful social hike series at Horton Grove! There will be a hike on the first Wednesday of each month to explore Horton Grove trails, socialize, and learn something along the way. During our hike, we will tackle 1-2 miles of trails, depending on the group. The hike will extend past dusk, so feel free to bring a flashlight or headlamp. This is a special opportunity, as our trails close to the public after dusk, so come out and see the preserve in a different light! This is a free event but preregistration is required.

Join magic-lovers of all ages as we meander through the woods at Brumley North, spotting fairies, nature spirits, and other interesting sights out of the corners of our eyes. We will alternate gentle hiking with circle games, movement, singing, art-making, and even walking the labyrinth!
All ages welcome; activities geared at ages 4-10. Older and younger siblings are especially welcomed, as are magical adults, but please make sure to register all attendees so that we know who to expect. Bring a picnic snack (and a blanket) for your family, a water bottle, and shoes that can get muddy. When you register, please tell us how many people are coming — you can list children as guests, but total number and grades of children will help us best prepare total number of materials. Exercise Hike at Swift Creek Bluffs Nature Preserve

Swift Creek Bluffs Nature Preserve

Start your week off right with a short, sweet, and ‘swift’ exercise hike at Swift Creek Bluffs. In just under 2 miles, we will cruise along the creek, tackle the Stairway to Heaven, and then relish the overlook from atop the bluff. This hike may be difficult for some visitors, there are large transitions in topography, many steps, and the pace will be between 25-30 minutes per mile. This is a free program, but preregistration is required. Please register per vehicle rather than individual to ensure there is plenty of space in the parking lot.
