Triangle Game Night is a group of board game enthusiasts who meet up at a variety of venues in the Triangle to play games. The group has a huge collection of board games–more than 265, including nostalgic games, like Hungry, Hungry Hippos, party games like Cards Against Humanity, and serious gamer games like 7 Wonders. Here’s a list of the games in the collection.
At events they bring out about 75 of the most popular games, and they add a new game every month, so there’s always something new.
Each game night is hosted by experienced game night staff, easily identified in a Triangle Game Night t-shirt. If you’re trying a new game, you’ll appreciate the demos at the beginning of the night.
Follow Triangle Game Night on Facebook, and you’ll find lots of details about all the events.
Here are their weekly events. All are free to attend, but you’re encouraged to donate $1 to the game fund. Also, food and drink are available for purchase from the venues. Please tip your bartender. You’re also welcome to bring your own board game.
These events are a great, low-key date night, and also a good way to meet new people.
They also have a collection of giant games, like Giant Jenga, available for rental for parties.

Retro Game Night
Thursdays, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Aloft Hotel Durham, 345 Blackwell Street, Durham
Wanna wind down after a long day in the office? Come on out to the Aloft Hotel in Durham from 8pm to 11pm for a leisurely game of Cards Against Humanity…or a exhilarating game of Giant Jenga.
It’s Summer and it’s oppressively hot. So let’s play in the water! Grab a Super Soaker and come and join me for a good ol’ game of Capture the Flag – with a wet twist. And we’ll be donating a portion of the proceeds to the charity Extra Life, because it’s always great to pay it forward. We’ll form two teams – the red team and the blue team. The red team fills their water guns with red colored water and the blue team fills their water guns with blue colored water. Everyone is wearing white shirts – you see where this is going…
Wanna know another cool twist? Every player will have a ” water war badge” on their arm. When your water war badge gets wet- you are out and must go to the “medic tent” to get a new one. It’s just a fun way to play a classic game. In the end, we’ll engage in a series of rounds of capture the flag that will result in a tie-died (ish) and fun mess. There will also be a winning team declared and everyone on that team will get a prize.
Admission for the event will be $10 (to help cover the costs of supplies and venue rental) and you will need to bring your own Super Soaker or Water Gun. I will provide a gallon of water and food coloring to each attendee. If you have a high yeild water gun that requires extra water, you will probably want to bring extra from home. I can give you food coloring. Hope to see many of you there!
In addition to TriangleGameNight.com’s impressive 75+ collection of games, Game Night guests will also get to play with a Giant Connect4!
