
New Hope Valley Railway’s annual Thomas & his Friends in the Garden will be held on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14, 2025.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Sunday: 12 to 4 p.m.
Visitors to the historic railway museum at 3900 Bonsal Road, New Hill, North Carolina, love the elaborate G scale garden railroad, with its 10 operating tracks. The 1,000 feet of track represent 5 miles of actual sized track.
During this special, annual event, the G scale garden railroad theme will be “Thomas and his Friends in the Garden”.

Come see G-Scale (1/29 full size) Thomas, Percy, James, Paxton and Emily pulling a variety of Thomas-themed cars on their way to Sodor.
Winston and Toby will also be on the layout, and Sir Topham Hat will be on hand to greet all of the guests.
There will be a small oval of G scale track where kids can operate a Thomas-themed G scale train themselves. The miniature Minions will also be there, so wear your favorite Thomas and Friends attire and join the fun!
Full size excursion trains, pulled by diesel locomotives, will be running on Saturday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., and on Sunday, September 15, at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Rides are four miles out-and-back and about 50 minutes long. Purchase train tickets.
The Thomas in the Garden event is FREE!
Train ride tickets are $16.45 for adults, $15.37 for seniors (60+) and $13.20 for children (2 – 12). Kids under 2 ride free.
Food trucks will be available both days. Will and Pops will be onsite on Saturday, serving burgers and hot dogs, along with hand cut fries. Chick-N-Que will be onsite on Sunday, serving chicken tenders and chicken BBQ.
For something sweet, Doo Wop Desserts will be serving cupcakes, cookies and other treats on Saturday and Sunday.
