Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at a Third Friday Pop-Up Celebration on Friday, September 21st, 2018, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Durham Visitor Info Center, 212 W. Main Street, Durham.
Third Friday/Tercer Viernes ¡Fiesta! is free and family-friendly.
Here’s some of what will be going on at the Pop-Up:
Film: Filmmaker Rodrigo Dorfman and photographer Peter Eversoll will present their most recent docuseries, ¡FIESTA! Quinceañera, which explores the world of quinceañeras through the stories of three Latina girls and a LGBTQ activist, choreographer, and drag artist.
Pop-Up Performance: Oscar Cervantes will MC the evening and showcase the art of the quinceañera with his fun and interactive pop-up performances. Quinceañeras from the docuseries will be attending to meet and greet guests. Plus, paparazzi from Tus15TV will be on hand to cover the event and bring a touch of quinceañera glamour!
Painting: Artists Cornelio Campos and Luis MacKinney will be displaying their work, and Campos will lead an interactive painting activity throughout the event. Learn more about their work and take home a piece of your own!
Community and Business: Community organizations like El Centro Hispano, Inc. will be available to discuss their various resources and programs, and local, Latinx-owned businesses including El Chapin, Tamale Factory & Tequila Bar – Durham NC, Mi Peru, La Panaderia Pahuatlan, Cocoa Cinnamon, and Pincho Loco will be onsite to introduce you to their delicious products.
