The Gregg Museum, the art museum on the NC State campus, at 1903 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, North Carolina, is launching its first ever summer art program for kids.
It will take place every Tuesday in June and July, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Activities will focus on learning about artwork through the Gregg Museum’s exhibits.Sessions are tailored to specific age groups.

Kindergarten Through 1st Grade
Children and caretakers will learn about Vollis Simpson’s whirligigs through careful looking, a scavenger hunt, and an art making activity that children will take home at the end of the session.
Parent/ guardians are required to be physically present in the room with children for the entirety of the program.
For each age-specific session, the activity will be the same. Please sign up for the session you prefer from the three options listed below.
- Session 1: Tuesday, June 4, 2024, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Session 2: Tuesday, June 11, 2024, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Session 3: Tuesday, June 18, 2024, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
2nd and 3rd Grade
Children will spend time in the galleries learning about Haitian flags through careful looking, observational prompts, and engage in an art making activity that children will take home at the end of the session.
Parent/ guardians are required to be on museum premises but not necessarily in the program space for the entirety of the program.
For each age-specific session, the activity will be the same. Please sign up for the session you prefer from the three options listed below.
- Session 4: Tuesday, June 25, 2024, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Session 5: Tuesday, July 2, 2024, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Session 6: Tuesday, July 9, 2024, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
4th and 5th Grade
Children will spend time in the galleries learning about Indonesian shadow puppets through careful looking, observational prompts, and engage in an art making activity that children will take home at the end of the session.
Parent/ guardians are required to be on museum premises but not necessarily in the program space for the entirety of the program.
For each age-specific session, the activity will be the same. Please sign up for the session you prefer from the three options listed below.
- Session 7: Tuesday, July 16, 2024, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Session 8: Tuesday, July 23, 2024, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Session 9: Tuesday, July 30, 2024, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
