The Fairgrounds Southern Ideal Home Show is celebrating its 40th year with all things BBQ, as well as plenty of inspiration for home improvement, at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds from September 12 to 14, 2025.

Pitmaster and host of the Food Network’s BBQ Rig Race Michael Mixon will be on stage Friday and Saturday. He’ll prepare his award-winning competition brisket and share his tips and tricks for the grill.
Sam Jones and Michael Letchworth of THE Sam Jones BBQ will discuss their whole hog barbequing process on Friday and Saturday. They’ll share their secrets to success — and BBQ samples, too.
The Big 4-0 For The Show. To mark the show’s 40th anniversary, they’re giving free admission for their fellow-40 club members. Those born in 1985 show ID at the box office any day of the show for a complimentary ticket.
Food Truckin’. Returning by popular demand, the show hosts an on-site food truck rally in the courtyard between the Jim Graham and Expo buildings. Check the website for daily schedule of trucks and service hours.
Make It, Take It. Show guests can participate in a free, hands-on crafty workshop, hosted by local studio AR Workshop. Classes run every 30 minutes, on a first-come, first-served basis.
