
Durham County Library is hosting a special program, The Pictographic Origins of Chinese Characters, in South Regional Library, 4505 S Alston Avenue, Durham, North Carolina, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m.
This is a free event. Registration is required. Space is limited.
Lewei Shang is presenting this program, which is brought to you by Sister Cities of Durham.
Discover the 3,000-year evolution of Chinese characters, from early pictographs to modern scripts, learn the logic behind simple and compound characters through hands-on pictographic calligraphy, and enjoy a chance to win one of two pictograph-themed T-shirts from the presenter.
