Book Harvest, at 2501 University Drive, Durham, North Carolina, periodically offers a Sensory Friendly Storytime. These events are designed to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for children with sensory needs, but are open to all.
The next one takes place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. It’s free to attend. Please register here.
This storytime will include stories read aloud in a calm and quiet setting, along with low lighting and minimal background noise.
Children can enjoy interactive elements such as soft, tactile toys and quiet fidget items to keep their hands busy while they listen.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate and support their children throughout the session. This storytime aims to nurture a love for reading while supporting the needs of every child, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all.
