Downtown Cary Park, 327 S Academy Street, Cary, North Carolina, regularly presents School BreakOUT! events for kids during scheduled days off of school. These events are packed with kid-friendly crafts and activities.
School BreakOUT! is free and no registration is required. These are not drop-off events. Parents or guardians must stay with their children the whole time.
Spring BreakOUT! March 31
SpringBreakOUT! takes place March 31, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Enjoy a perfect day of fun, family-friendly activities when school is out! Packed with engaging events and hands-on fun, it’s the ideal way to spend a school-free day together. Best of all, it’s free and open to the public!
Blast off into an out-of-this-world adventure at our Space-Themed Spring BreakOUT! The Park will transform into a galaxy of hands-on fun where young astronauts can build with Imagination Blocks, launch stomp and straw rockets, and dive into lawn games across the Park. Get glowing with blacklight pottery painting, suit up with space-inspired face painting and tattoos, and gear up for outdoor laser tag battles. Enjoy live science excitement with Mad Science’s Marvels of Motion show and Space Discovery Station, then prepare for liftoff with The Story Ship’s high-energy “Alien’s Alive!” performance. Fuel up with tasty treats along the way and spend the day exploring, creating, and discovering among the stars!

Spring BreakOUT! April 2
The second Spring BreakOUT! takes place April 2, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Again, this is a FREE event.
Ahoy, mateys! Set sail for a swashbuckling adventure at our Pirate-Themed Spring BreakOUT, where Downtown Cary Park will transform into a lively port full of treasure, music, and mischief. Young buccaneers can search for hidden loot in a park-wide treasure hunt, build and play in the arena, create pirate crafts at the Art Cart, and even discover their very own pirate name.
Meet Captain Blackbeard and his crew at their interactive encampment, catch roaming performances from Pirates of the Piedmont, and cheer on daring (and hilarious!) comedy sword-fighting shows. Keep an eye out for roaming pirates, magical mermaids at the fountain, and a spirited youth costume contest and parade.
With face painting, tattoos, tasty eats, and sweet treats along the way, it’s a day fit for the bravest scallywags on the high seas!
