From April 27 to 29, 2024, a different kind of baseball will be played at the Historic Durham Athletic Park, 500 W Corporation Street, Durham, NC.
Sandlot Revival is a weekend of games between “sandlot” teams from across the country. The teams are made of folks who just like getting together and playing baseball. Winning is not everything. It’s more of a fun, social time. Sort of the way neighborhood baseball used to be when we were kids.
It’s free to attend!
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sunday: 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Monday: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The event is more like a block party than a typical sporting event, although it will be fun to watch, as each locale and team plays the game a bit differently. There will be a lot of diversity in age, gender, and skill level on some of the teams.
The event is hosted by Carolina Sandlot Collective. It’s a benefit for Long Ball Program, a baseball league that supports teens in Durham.
Besides watching baseball, there will be lots of other features to enjoy at Sandlot Revival. Teams will have merch booths available to show support for your favorite teams! Food will be available from Lawrence BBQ Concessions Saturday 12-7 and Sunday 12-5 (or until sold out). Refreshments will be available from Bull City Catering Saturday and Sunday.
