What do you do if a leg comes loose from your chair or your toaster stops working? Maybe you’d like to fix it but you don’t know how, or you don’t have the tools. This is where Repair Café comes in.
Repair Café brings together people with various skills to help to fix items and, more importantly, to pass on the knowledge.
They have periodic Repair Nights where you can bring in your broken item and you’re paired with someone who knows how to fix it.
You don’t have to have broken stuff to come to an event! You can also just come and observe and learn.
The next one is Saturday, March 30th, 2019, from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at The Scrap Exchange, 2050 Chapel Hill Road, Durham.
If you’d like to bring something in to be fixed, you need to request a reservation. Then you’ll be assigned a time slot and they’ll let you know what you should bring with you.
This Repair Café event is part of The Scrap Exchange’s Green Forum, which features:
- Plant sale
- Potting Station
- Decorating/Making pots and planters
- Make your own t-shirt bag
- Performance by The Bulltown Strutters
- So Good Pupusas food truck
Things to be fixed:
- Electrical Appliances
- Computers (PCs and Macs)
- Non-electrical items
- … and more …
If you are skilled in repairs and would like to get involved, let them know what your specialty is.
