What do you do if a leg comes loose from your chair or your toaster stops working? Maybe you’d like to fix it but you don’t know how, or you don’t have the tools. This is where Repair Café comes in.
Repair Café brings together people with various skills to help to fix items and, more importantly, to pass on the knowledge.
They have periodic Repair Nights where you can bring in your broken item and you’re paired with someone who knows how to fix it.
Right now there are no live events planned, but Repair Café TV is a series of webinars where you can share problems and they’ll suggest solutions.
Dates of Repair Café TV (all at 7:30 p.m.):
- July 15th, 2020: What do you do after you’ve removed the screws and it still doesn’t open? Tom Karches demonstrates techniques for opening cases with hidden fasteners and retaining clips.
- August 3rd, 2020: Proper cleaning and lubrication keeps sewing machines humming. Cheryl Warren takes us inside several sewing machines to remove the crud and restore the hum with basic sewing machine TLC.
- August 19th, 2020: Wire loops, jump rings, chains and clasps. Cathy Murphy will show us several tools and techniques for repairing jewelry.
- September 16th, 2020: Stuck on glue with Don
You don’t need a repair project to join. You can just sign up and watch and learn. It’s free to participate.
