
Raleigh’s own Shakespeare company, Carolina Shakespeare, invites the community to celebrate the Bard with public performances (FREE with advance ticket; $30 at the door) beginning at Noon on Saturday, March 21, 2026, and going all day until 5 p.m.
Raleigh Shakespeare festival takes place at NC State’s Stewart Theatre, 2610 Cates Ave, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Doors open at 11:30, performances begin at Noon and a new short play starts every 30 minutes, with opportunities for audience engagement.
All ages welcome!
The Carolina Shakespeare Company makes Shakespeare accessible, engaging, and alive for contemporary audiences. The Festival features ten short productions, one starting every half hour, which feature a team of two to three actors and a moderator who guides the experience, inviting audience interaction and participation along the way.
The Festival’s slate of plays includes specially-adapted, self-contained versions of Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, Hamlet, As You Like It, Taming of the Shrew, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Twelfth Night, and King Lear.
Special Guest, and Shakespeare lover, Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell, will be on hand to welcome the audience.
Saturday’s performance at Stewart Theater is free and open to the public if booked in advance through Eventbrite. This afternoon with the Bard offers an opportunity for families, students, educators, and theater lovers to experience Shakespeare in an energetic and accessible format.
