Plant Fest in Hillsborough Oct 5 - Triangle on the Cheap

Orange County Master Gardeners are hosting Plant Fest on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Bonnie B. Davis Environment and Agricultural Center, 1020 US 70 West, Hillsborough, NC. This is across from the DMV office.

This is a free event.

PlantFest includes many activities for kids, as well as the plant sale and an art sale. The plant sale will offer many native plants, including some that are hard to find at local nurseries.

Kids’ Activities

Scavenger hunt: Each child can pick up a PlantFest Passport with words and pictures of items all around the event. Children are encouraged to get the passport stamped as they locate items or booths
Learn about butterflies and other insects
Enjoy puzzles and games as well as a craft project for kids to make
Plant a seedling and take it home
Resting spot where parents and kids can relax and read or look at books about plants and nature

Master Gardener volunteers who will answer your gardening and plant problem questions.
Biodiversity information
Information about winter sowing: Learn how to start seeds easily in winter
Invasive plants: Learn to recognize and manage common invasive plants that displace native plants and disrupt ecosystems
Free seeds: Our Community Seed Library team will have free seeds (choose your own) and information
Bees, worms and more!

Food

The Orange County 4-H Club will sell pastries, coffee and tea in the morning, and light lunch items later. Proceeds will support their activities
Ring the Bell Barbecue food truck will be on hand. They will have vegetarian options.
