Arcade and video game trends come and go, but there seems to be one constant: pinball machines.
What’s the appeal, beyond nostalgia? Pinball machines are tactile — the physics of the ball, flippers and bumpers create a different experience every time. Pinball machines feature fun themes, often based on movies or TV shows. The visual art on the machines can be really stunning.
Pinball fans are in luck. You’ll find the machines in bar arcades, breweries, bars, pizza places and so many more spots. Whether you want to play a little pinball while you’re waiting for your pizza, or spend an evening beating the high score, it’s easier than ever to find a pinball machine in the Triangle, thanks to the Pinball Map.
What is the Pinball Map?
The Pinball Map, which was founded in 2008, is an open source, crowdsourced worldwide map of public pinball machines. It boasts 11,090 locations and 45,948 machines. The data is managed by over 100 administrators and thousands of active users. It’s FREE to use.
How to use the Pinball Map
You can search the Pinball Map by location, a specific pinball machine, number of machines, type of location (brewery bar arcade, store, mini golf and much more.)
The results show the number of pinball machines at each location, so you can tell if the location is a bar with a single machine or an arcade with dozens of them. You can also see if the pinball machines are in a family-friendly spot, just in case you want to show off your old school skills to the kids.
Not only that, but you can see a list of which machines are at each location.

How the map works
The map is updated by users and is constantly evolving. Users report new locations, add details about machines, or note changes.
When you look at a result, you can see when it was last updated.
