Twice a year Oak City Voices (OCV) has a Meet & Greet event for prospective singers to come and see if OCV’s women’s chorus might fit their desire to make beautiful music in a fun environment with a highly professional director (Russell McKinney) and a wonderful accompanist (Martha Abernathy.)
The next Meet & Greet is on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 7 to 9 p.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 221 Union Street, Cary, North Carolina. It’s free to attend.
Oak City Voices members provide treats for the prospective singers (and themselves, as well!) and everyone gets a chance to mingle. This is a great time to get your questions answered. Then the group will sight read several of the pieces Rusty has selected for the next concert. After singing, the group return to the snack tables for more casual conversations and informal exchanges.
Oak City Voices rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cary. They perform two concerts a year, generally in November and May. Additionally, they perform at various retirement homes in the Triangle throughout the year. Nominal member dues (twice a year) help support the mission of OCV. Auditions are not required but may be used for voice placement only.

Oak City Voices is an all women, inter-generational ensemble formed in 2016. We will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary this year. The group performs a varied repertoire of classical to contemporary music in the Raleigh area, with the goal of fostering, promoting, and embracing our love of music through song. We welcome women from all cultures, backgrounds, and walks of life who wish to raise their voices in a community of song. Our mission also includes several free concerts yearly at area retirement homes and care facilities
