Oak City Voices is presenting Sing a Song of Shakespeare on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 5 p.m., at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, 3313 Wade Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for youth and seniors. Tickets are free for kids under age 13.
Music plays an important role in Shakespeare’s work, with around 100 songs across the 39 plays. Yet, almost none of the actual music from his day survives.
Fortunately, in the 400 years hence, a great diversity of composers has been inspired to set his songs to music. This concert features texts from seven plays and two sonnets, and composers such as Thomas Morley, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Amy Beach, and Sarah Quartel.
Dirge for Fidele will be performed in Memory of Oak City Voices member, Barbara Barnett.
