New Hope Bird Alliance is leading a morning of birdwatching and discovery at the AAA Four Diamond Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, 3001 Cameron Blvd, Durham, North Carolina, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
This is a free event, but space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Learn about the birds that thrive in Durham!
Start out with complimentary coffee and tea in the Inn’s Rotunda Room. After an introduction by New Hope Bird Alliance leaders, set out on a birdwatching walk along the scenic Al Buehler Trail. Experts will guide the group and help them to identify birds by their appearance, behaviors and calls.
The event takes place during the Great Backyard Bird Count — a global initiative uniting bird enthusiasts to observe and report on bird species, aiding scientists in understanding their populations before annual migrations. To learn more, visit www.birdcount.org.
Some binoculars will be available to borrow, but if you have your own, please bring it. Also, please wear comfortable, close-toed walking shoes, and dress for the brisk weather.
Keep an eye on the Inn’s Instagram, @washingtondukeinn, for a chance to win a one-night stay for two and a birdwatching-themed prize package leading up to the event.
