North Carolina Museum of Art, 2110 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh, North Carolina, is hosting a free family-friendly community day focusing on the exhibition “The Time Is Always Now” on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The special event takes place in the East Building and Museum Plaza.
Enjoy free exhibition access and family-friendly tours, work on hands-on activities to create your own portraits, and meet and celebrate artists from our community.
Schedule of Events
- 10 am–2 pm: Free face painting with Ebony Child
- 10 am–4 pm: Hands-on art-making activities
- 10 am–4 pm: Collaborative mural with artist Dare Coulter
- 11:30 am–1:30 pm: Family-friendly tours of The Time Is Always Now
- 1 pm and 3 pm: Performances of Jeghetto’s Workshop with puppeteer Jeghetto
The Time Is Always Now — Artists Reframe the Black Figure
This exhibition is on view through June 29, 2025. It’s a ticketed exhibition ($20 for adults, $17 for seniors ages 65+, $12 for students ages 7-22, and free for children 6 and under.) However, it’s FREE during the Community Day.
Featuring 23 contemporary African diasporic artists, The Time Is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure celebrates the Black figure from the perspective of Black artists, illuminating the richness, joy, beauty, and complexity of Black life. Learn more about the exhibition.
