George H. White Bar Association, NC Association of Public Defenders and NC Central University-The Justice Institute are planning an event to commemorate Juneteenth.
Honoring Juneteenth In Our Courts takes place Friday, June 19, 2026, from 12:30 to 4 p.m., at NCCU Student Center, 500 Nelson Street, Durham, NC.
The event is free and open to all.
Join to celebrate this year’s theme: From Freedom to the Bar: The Trailblazing Legacy of Black Lawyers in North Carolina. As we ensure that this important chapter of our history is remembered and celebrated, we will reflect and connect while highlighting community, culture, and freedom. We will unite to honor our shared heritage while reflecting on the struggles to protect families and our continued quest to keep North Carolina’s promise to uphold the Constitution each day in courtrooms across the state.
The event is free to attend and donations will be accepted to offset the cost of the event.
